Today was a good first Mama's Day- filled with family and friends. I overheard a great conversation between my father and husband about pets they've owned, loved and their breeds- it was a sweet moment.

We even remembered to snap this shot of my mother, Hazel and I.

After a big family breakfasty/brunch we lazed around and basked in the sun, watered the seeds and just relaxed. An old- good friend ( of 20+) years and her daughter came over for a quick visit and we got invited to a BBQ for tonight.

I'm still waiting on results from Thursday. Got some sewing accomplished and now a nap is needed. Hope you're having a great day!

This and That

Yesterday, I had my first endoscopy. Still trying to pinpoint my tummy woes. My throat still hurts, a lot. It hurts to swallow- which brings me to thinking of that old Chloraseptic throat spray. As a kid and now at a lesser rate- I was the queen of sore throats.. so Chloraseptic was always in the cabinet and I always loathed the taste of the spray and lozenges. I was amazed at how battered my body felt as the anesthesia started wearing off, I felt like I had been hit with a pound of bricks and I still feel that way in the wee hours of Friday morning. I didn't feel this bad after my delivery! I am so grateful Zach was able to work from home yesterday and today- because I need a little extra help and sleep.

Since learning of the wonderfulness of Google Reader, I have started subscribing to a ton of green sites. One new favorite is
Trying to Be Greener. She brings so many things to light and sometimes reminds me of issues I want to learn more about- but have forgotten due to mama brain. The New Dirty Dozen for Organic Foods. If you have a child or just want to live a safer and greener lifestyle check her out!

This Sunday will be my first Mother's Day, we'll be seeing my family and having a breakfast in the back yard. Today I need to run to Costco for various items to feed 20+ people. I already gave mom her gift- because I've never been good with holding onto gifts once I have them. I'm amazed I have been holding onto Zach's birthday gifts for so long.

Our weekend will be a low key one. Seeing family, maybe packing a few boxes- possibly searching for some other summery clothes in storage and maybe I'll get to plant some cilantro and pumpkins. The compost I started or um half-started has started to smell and grow mold.. which I know isn't good. We started creating so much to add to it- that I ran out of dirt to really cover it. Part procrastination and part lack of research- but with hopes- I'll have it whipped into shape- if possible.

A Roaring By Weekend

The weekend goes by way to fast these days.

Have Moby Will Travel- Hazel loves sitting outward in the Moby. Although she is at the stage where she just wants mama or papa- she'll go to grandmas too- but some family members and strangers are too scary just yet- including my sister! Sorry Susie! I carried her around all Saturday through the lovely village of Nyack for their yard sale extravaganza. We didn't get anything there- but my favorite little shop, Grace's didn't fail me.

ET was one of my favorite childhood movies.It was in perfect condition- maybe I'll make a bag for the beach or a dress for Hazel- could you imagine- how fun!?
Last night after the beloved CI, we started watching some random home-show and it sucked us in till midnight! I guess we should be aware of some of the things homeowners experience- as we'd like to be homeowners in the near future. But I don't ever want to be in the situation some of these people are in- crazy demolitions and serious revamping! But then again we did say we'd like a fix-it-upper- maybe I should have taken notes?!

On the home & hobo front: Hazel tried jar apples for breakfast and I bought 10 pounds organic to make a pie and some applesauce. The straightening of the studio nook- could be moving faster- but I'll take any bits or organization I can get. Might vere off the blog circuit for a few- I need to pick up some steam for packing,sewing and oh of course Hazel!

Grab Yer Aprons

It is that time again- Spring Cleaning. I kind of feel like I'm always cleaning so the actual idea of "spring cleaning" is kind of new to me. With the first bat of warm weather, I beg Zach to drag out our bins of summery clothes and I begin washing them/seeing which still fit and which I just don't want out this year. However, this year I have some new ideas about how I want to manage our little space- because we're moving as you may have caught and things need to be in tip top shape!

One of the things I tackled this morning was my Etsy shop. I reorganized all the items, the categories and just added sale items to their regular category- rather than have a specific section for such things. I switched to a banner that I haven't used in awhile, updated all of our mailing info,our shop welcome and other little shopownery things. I also got rid of some fabric and craft books which were on sale- but weren't moving. To me it looks lighter, more coherent and refreshed and I didn't even need to put my apron on for this one!

I'm now enjoying by warm-tub incriments, SARKS's Bodacious Book of Succulence. I had read it in college- but wanted to relive her positive vibes and gorgeous spirit. The part I've come to which has always been so inspiring is her "Micromovements". The idea that you really can accomplish anything if you do it in a baby step. Think "What About Bob" with Bill Murray...baby steps to the door, etc. Only you want to really accomplish something here- aside from comedic laughter.

On My Micromovement Master List I am planning to conquer the following things:
-My studio nook- arranging fabric in an inspiring- grabbing way- to heck with color coding- I need inspiration!
-The hella that is Hazel's massive clothing attack- hand-me-down central (which I do love) is just kinda out of control and needs to be tamed!
-Clearing a path- whether it is to the bed- the changing table-the couch- yup- all of these spots have excessive cluttered piles that need cleaning

So to get a little bit of help and support- I'll be following the other house mamas & papas and getting with the celebration. Let's Party with Simplemom from May 4th- 25th and get our clean on!
. I love bringing out the summer clothes- it feels like shopping- only I've spent no money- What Fun!

Bob and Weave

Everything has some sort of pattern, a rhythm or routine- but we just don't notice it. As I am starting to understand this little kidlet's patterns,caring for her is getting easier in ways. However last night she woke at 1am,3am,5am and 6isham. After trying to let her lie in her crib for a bit- I came to terms with neither of us getting another wink and we went to the living room.

Yesterday was a day of days- I got a good amount accomplished- one of those things was putting down an easy-to-clean, play-mat/rug for Hazel. So this morning she happily played in her rain forest gym ( on the rug) while I happily finished 7 coffee cuffs- it was kind of amazing. I put a new Celtic Lullaby cd in and we both focused..her chewing,sucking and drooling- me snipping,pinning and stitching.

No real plans for the weekend except the transfer of more furniture/clothing/randomness from the old-the new. Hazel is 5 months tomorrow which I am still amazed by every day and every month she grows.

I had hoped to get some screen printing of our new wee Snuggle Bunny screen under my belt- but considering I haven't placed an order for the clothing pieces- maybe next weekend. There is a lawn that needs cutting- some plants to be transplanted. The outside work never seems to be done- but I really enjoy it. I am grateful that my parents let us do so much in their yard. Helps us get ready for our own yard someday.

Bread Lust

I guess I've already written about Bread Lust before, because it popped up in my blog titles- before I could finish typing it in. Only the bread lust I was talking about then was the non-glutenous. This morning my bread has gluten and rosemary and olive oil. It is quite delicious with some garlic hummus. It is a difficult, slippery slope of gluten- I'm climbing these days- with strict orders to eat eat eat gluten before my endoscopy.



Hazel woke to yet another large piece of baby toy-furniture... the jumperoo. Although our babe's feet do not yet touch the ground, she played enough this morning to seriously conk herself out for a good, long nap.

Zach has started configuring his action figures on what was once, my mother;s niknak shelves. He too has strict orders, only from me. Anyone who is a lover of action figures or married to a lover of one- the heat is not their friend, and once one falls they all start. So the strict order is a line of fishing wire to keep these guys (ahem Wolverine, I'm talking to you) in place. Zach happily obliged.

Our new place has become a life-size game of Tetris, which I love playing and am pretty good at, while the old place is a graveyard of yet-to-be-packed items, fur balls and loud neighbors. However the new place does have a train coming through a million times a day/night ( does this count as a loud neighbor?) How did I ever sleep as a child? I guess the same way I do now and the way Hazel will for the next year- deeeply!

With not too much to report- I'm back to the daily grind..Hazel,laundry,dinner (turkey meatloaf & garlic mashed) and maybe- just maybe some sewing & product shots- along with a few hopeful sketches of new new things to come.
