This will be short, because I think part of why I took such a hiatus from this little place was because the blogging was feeling like I HAD to do it rather than I WANTED to. Funny how our brains work sometimes! After our computer crashed- we lost practically everything. I was grateful to have this blog and be able to reminisce and see all that I posted over the years.

Hazel is 2 1/2, I have been on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet since March and it's working! My Colitis is mostly always in check and I am able to better understand what I can and can't eat. Zach has switched jobs and is now able to work from home with exception for 1-2 days a week when he travels into the city. So much is changing. Our cats still lounge and meow at us to fetch them food, Bella the puppy dog still chews everything in sight- but she's trying. We've got a wee container garden.. Ozark strawberries, tons of basil ( my favorite thing to grow), tomatoes,lavender,beans,cilantro,Russian kale and spearmint & apple mint.

We are coming on 1 year of home ownership- which is kind of crazy! We love it- but had NO idea just how tough it was going to be. Every day we try to make a little bit of progress, whether it's hanging a picture frame,switching out curtains or hanging a new plant. The nesting still goes on. The crafting is starting up and I am trying to climb out of the cold weather funk. Inspiration come to me~

Thrift, Dream, Read

The dream part is still in progress (and I imagine will always be to some extent) and as we wait wait wait for a reply from the realtor. But we are trying to be hopeful and if this specific house doesn't work out- we have a few others lined up.

In the mean time I am trying to stay busy and trying*(sorry,Z) not to call Zach a bazillion times a day at work to see if he's "heard anything".

So I've been thrifting,planning our meals out, planning out rooms in my head and color schemes and all the things I would like to try and make,find or get used for Hazel's play. I really want to get her a kitchen set, I would heart a wooden one because I know it is better for her, our home and in the long run probably more durable. That said if we find a recycled one for very little money- I won't turn it down even if we keep it out in the yard.

The Kind Diet.

Since the cocktail of colitis meds, seem to be working, I am feeling braver with my food choices again. We've been enjoying green smoothies. This morning was exceptionally delish- Hazel kept signing and saying "more, more!". It was a handful of fresh spinach, 3/4 banana, a splash of OJ, a tbsp of agave nectar, 1 c. of almond milk and 1/2 c. of mangoes. I am hoping this book will reaffirm my reasons for being vegan years ago and help me get back on track.. even if eggs are still in the picture now & then.

3 for the road

Here we are this morning- donning my mama-bed hair. Hazel and her baby in the sling. She thinks this is hysterical that there is room for both of them in here. Not that I can really get much done like this- a little hug for a few minutes is a enough. All but one or two stitches had dissolved, so yesterday at the plastic surgeon- he took the remaining out. It is never fun to have to hold your baby down while they cry and a doctor examines them. She fell asleep pretty much immediately after in the car seat. After a 20 minute nap- all I could think was thank heaven for small miracles. Speaking of small miracles....


My owners made a bid on a house and it was accepted!!! Yes folks, tomorrow we go up to sign our offer and to have my family inspect before the actual inspection on Monday. Fingers crossed that there is nothing too terrible lurking. The house was built in 1920 and has a few renovation projects needed. More to come!
