a few things

Months ago I fell in love with these and because I am trying to save money, I just couldn't. But since I wasn't mass creating them- I made some of my own for our own little budget.

We used a Sharpie and velcro- I don't do so great with zippers well actually I hate sewing them! Although only 4 are shown I made 5 pouches. I used some recycled, vintage and new fabrics- trying to stay within a similar color scheme. I only have 2 labeled. Gas & groceries and perhaps fun money or chai money will be designated.

Our wait still continues on the house. I have started packing and we now are in a sea of boxes. Packing with a toddler is kind of impossible. I put 5 things in the box she manages to pull out 7! I have also started purging stuff. We have a yard sale planned in a few weeks and I want to be able to have something to sell.

I added a new cuff to the shop and I have 2 more I am adding. Must go through my inventory and possibly find more unlisted items. Oh and my sewing machine is having a slight bobbin issue- so I'll have to take it back in for a tune up. Anyone else have issues with a Huskystar?

3 for the road

Here we are this morning- donning my mama-bed hair. Hazel and her baby in the sling. She thinks this is hysterical that there is room for both of them in here. Not that I can really get much done like this- a little hug for a few minutes is a enough. All but one or two stitches had dissolved, so yesterday at the plastic surgeon- he took the remaining out. It is never fun to have to hold your baby down while they cry and a doctor examines them. She fell asleep pretty much immediately after in the car seat. After a 20 minute nap- all I could think was thank heaven for small miracles. Speaking of small miracles....

My owners made a bid on a house and it was accepted!!! Yes folks, tomorrow we go up to sign our offer and to have my family inspect before the actual inspection on Monday. Fingers crossed that there is nothing too terrible lurking. The house was built in 1920 and has a few renovation projects needed. More to come!

swing batter batter

Baseball fan? No, not really. Is my father sad that we can't partake in his favorite pastime together? Probably not but, growing up every summer- all I knew was radio 660 AM. It seemed like it was constantly on. My father played baseball when he was younger and even got drafted for the Dodgers when they were in Brooklyn- but decided to join the Army. So baseball is kind of in my blood regardless. With that, I do enjoy seeing a game in person and somewhere deep down, I might even like the roar of the announcer's play by play with the occasional roar of the crowd.

There are so many summer sounds I enjoy. Hooting of the owl in the back yard, a cricket hiding in the corner of a room, trickle of rain from a sun storm. Some of my newest ones are Hazel laughing and splashing in her pool and swinging on her swing set.

Trying to take every day in..breath a little..do a little and live a lot. I cherish our weekends, when we can be a more laid-back family bustling through town- running errands. In a year or so, maybe we'll be puttering around our new home, working on improvements, nesting and making plans for the corner of that room and the bookshelf in the other. But for now- we have to fight the temptation of consumerism in order to save as much money as possible. So this is it- a difficult feat lay ahead- sure it's no slaughtering Voldermort- but sometimes it seems as difficult. Buying a house is no joke. But I want us to stay as positive as possible.

Well, there is a babe tugging at me for dinner.
