Still Toasty After All These Years

I like people with interesting socks. I've been building my collection since my teens- I learned early from my mother and have started finding neat ones for Hazel too.

Zach has the best sock collection. Some exciting like a map of the Underground in London - silly beer bottles- a growing skull selection-and an awesome array of stripes. He also has the warmest, toastiest winter socks. Wool and warm and perfect for rainy-day toes. Perhaps it is in his blood, you know being from New England and all.. maybe there is a toasty sock clause I am unaware of. Well on nasty days, I always reach for his dresser draw of warm woolies and today is no different.

Last night I colored my hair. An auburny tint- just enough to cover my grays and whites?! Whites?@, yes! Thanks Hazel! I used a natural plant-based dye called Naturcolor. It has been over a year since I've had any color and although I like this red- I instantly kinda wished I hadn't dyed my un-dyed hair. But it did make my bad hair cut look 100% better to me. So I guess I'll grow it out and then try to leave the color alone and let it go natural again and figure something out about the dang gray & whites.

In our space, I'm starting to add our own pieces.

Just a little something handmade, to hang over the changing table. I traded my handed-down changing table for the top of our vintage dresser. This way Hazel's clothing is all inside and easily accessible one-handed.

I managed to list this this morning. It still has not gotten any easier to work and care for Hazel. Her sleep schedule is wonky and didn't nap for more than 20 minutes yesterday- but she went to sleep at 7:30 last night which was a nice change.

Who knows what adventures today will bring.

Humming Along With the Daffodils

Daffodils are usually the first to bloom around here. We spotted some the other day and now they seem to be popping up everywhere. Saturday we spent the night with friends chomping on guacamole, hummus and other tasty bits. Fun was had by way of silly storytelling and playing American Idol 2. Can anyone say "Maneater"? Well I started ff with this one- but kind of failed so I switched to a Killers song. Here is a moment Zach caught, where Hazel was asleep in my arms during the performances.

We've been in the market for a camcorder since before Hazel was born- now that she's here it is kind of important we get one to cherish all of her firsts. With that said we took a gulp as we tried finding parking at the mall on a weekend. I was just amazed. You would have thought it was the holiday season! True, we haven't been there in awhile, but still I was in awe of how many people were out- shopping. Recession- who? Needless to say- we made a mistake being there- too many people we got in and got out- with out much more info than when we started.

In Hoboland, our little shoppe is humming along. We are in a much better place than we were 3 years ago at this time of year and that is all we can really ask for. I've started batting around some new ideas for the spring and even got a little bit of sewing done last night. It is rainy and dark here- otherwise I would have posted some pictures.

Up since 5, there is a meatloaf in the oven for Zach's dinner tonight. I feel so tired, we stayed up waaaay too late on Saturday even after our fun night. We watched some movies and managed to stay up till 4am and still missed SNL!

Well maybe I'll catch a nap if the baby doesn't wake up before the meatloaf is done. Somewhere in between that window a pillow has my name on it. Have a great Monday!
