Razors,Smoothies,Felt and Tuesday Nights

So we got word that the book one of my designs is featured in is available for order!!

Felt Underground by Marisa Mouton

There isn't a photo for the cover yet.. but it is a kit with a manual- that shows you how to create the projects as well as comes with supplies. So one of my designs for a scarf made from recycled t-shirts & felt is featured as a project. I'm so excited! Wheee My friends from the bookstore joked that I was going to have a booksigning- since I use to be a Community relations Manager at a B&N. My job entailed settig signings up and other events.

Tonight Zach ordered me a new phone- so I'm switching providers- thank goodness! With all the complaning I do about my current phone carrier- it really is about time! So I'll be sporting the hot-pink razor hoot hoot!! How exciting- cause my phone now is in a terrible state. The back falls off all the time and it is being held on with a hair band. Oh did I mention it was dropped in the toilet at one point? I was able to dry it out after a few days.. so I guess it is time.

I made the most delicious smoothie.. oj,shredded pineapple and a handful of berries- in the magic bullet and WhamO! Tuesday nights are usually my favorite night cause of the shows that were on- or will be on during the fall. All the Law & Order lot- so good. We have friends who just call those shows "crime show" which is hysterical. So we've sort of adapted to saying" Wanna watch a crime show?"-

I must admit I haven't been sewing. I've done some pinning together of skirts, totes etc. but I have not yet sewn anything in the last few days. I have so many ideas- sometimes I feel frozen. I think Sabrina Ward Harrison talks about that in one of her amazing books. If you are not familiar.. do yourself a favor..famliarize yourself

Well I am off. I needed to finish this wednesday morning.. forgot about it. Making Flaky Cheddar & Chive Scones today..
Happy Creating

Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumble on Saturday Morning

Last night I went out with the girls for Mexican food. We were celebrating a friend in town for a 1-night visit, another friend moving to NYC and being accepted to Hunter, another friend's birthday and lastly my trip to Hawaii( I had to celebrate the little things)

Suzanne came for a visit this morning to meet Jasper- our fat kitty. So I ran to the market to buy some rhubarb. She is the only other person next to me and Garrison Keillor. So I whipped a strawberry-rhubarb crumble. Delicious! Not to mention neither of us had breakfast or lunch! So it really hit the spot.

I have a few photos of the process.

Tonight's Dinner.. Noodles & veggies

Sue also showed me some of her shopping finds- new shoes, jeans etc. I am living/shopping vicariously through her since the Wardrobe Refashion pledge I took.

Tonight I am planning this for myself: A night of relaxation coffee drinking-vegging out-listen to Prarie Home Companion cooking-reading HP7- maybe watching a bad vampire flick and minimal crafting. Tomorrow I have many items to list & weeding/ gardening/watering to do. I also want to make some sort of yumminess- lentil or couscous something.

I am really enjoying my subscription to Vegetarian Times, I find every new issue is full of great recipes I can't wait to try. The Rhubarb crmble recipe came from a VT recipe + In the Garden of Vegan + melissa's own shazaam. I did realize that this pie is served best when you allow it to cool and even refrigerate for a bit. I'll post the morphed recipe next week.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Continued Laziness

Aside from putting together an order for shipment tomorrow morning- I was such a bum tonight! Re-watched the Virgin Queen and read how Cate Blanchett, Geoffry(sp?) Rush & Russell Crowe are making the 2nd part of Elizabeth.. scheduled to come out in October! I'm so excited!

I mentioned to Zach the other day I really want to get the Marilyn piercing I use to have.. sort of like a birthmark to the left or right of your nose.. anywho- I don't think he wants me to get it. I just feel like I need a change. Right now I want to take advantage of having a job where I can take certain liberties to do whatever/ look however I want. Then I think.. am I getting too old? Plus I have 2 weddings coming up in the next 2 months. So I think I'll just cut some bangs!

dress bought in Suffern at the thrift for $2.00 along with belt for .50
Custom Bag we made for a customer on etsy
the Franny Pack- ready to go out in the mail tomorrow.

Friday night we're having a girl's night at the local Mexican Restaraunt(sp?). A good friend is coming to spend the night- whom I haven't seen in close to a year-since she moved. So much happening. Zach will be back on Monday morning.
I have soo many ideas I need to put into practice.

An Early Send Off

This morning I drove Zach to work around 3:45 am to catch a town car driving him to Newark Airport. From there he is on to San Diego for the Comic Convention. The road was empty as it should be at 4am!

When we woke Jasper was so excited he must have thought,"WOW it's dinner time already?I'm so excited!" Much to his dismay I didn't feed him before we left.

I came home and flopped on the couch- checked for an open treasury(no luck) and attempted to read HP7. I woke around 5:30 on the couch! So much for reading. Later that morning the cats were going bonkers so I had to get up. They were drag racing through our railroad-style apartment from one end(the kitchen) to the other on top of our bed. Jumping on it and when I would look up their expressions were of cats who knew they were being naughty.

Visited with Mom & Dad then started cooking. Steamed cabbage with tempeh, brown rice, carrots, garlic & onions. The mixture is seasoned with dillweed- which gives it a buttery flavor if you can believe that. The mixture is wraped inside the cabbage leaves and then put in a slow cooker with stewed tomatoes, sugar & vinegar for several hours. The whole apartment smells like a big yum yum fest.

I've rented a few movies for tonight's etsy listing brigade.I've been a bit of a Lazens LaRue not listing items daily- not filling my own mental shop quotas- so I thought some fun was in order! The Legacy is from the 70's with a very young & handsome Sam Elliot. There is also a tush shot of Sam Elliot lol! With a very young Roger Daltrey. They(sam & katherine ross) are architects from NY who are invited by a mysterious man to England( all paid for $50,000 deposited into their account)- so then they go over. Fall off a motorcycle and end up in the humungo house with all of the bazaar English people. It has a scary- horror slant. We'll see if I can get through it!

I hope you're getting more done than I!

Monday Night

So our car is in the body shop after the bang up job from our accident. So I'm driving a cream colored PT Cruiser! YAy We soo should have sprung for it when looking for a new car. When we were in Chicago on our honeymoon we also rented a cream PT Cruiser- not by choice- but I didn't get a chance to drive it cause it was only under Zach's name. So Here I come Open Road!!

I took a quick drive up North towards Harrison listening to the newer Yeah, Yeah Yeahs cd which is good but not nearly as catchy as the first album. Today I popped into the library to rent a few movies and renew my Elizabeth I book- when I came across a Charlie Brown Dictionary- it is very used on the outside but still is wonderful inside. We've started collecting books for our children's library- whenever it is we have little ones.

Just a few of the books we picked up this past weekend.

I started a notebook fr our finances. After wathing the documentary Maxed OUt I realized I had a lot to learn. I watched the extras with Dave Ramsey and I really appreciated his advice. So I've started the journal and wanted it to be fun- so I'd use it.

The wonderful Peter Pan we found, he's so adorably pretty!

I've finally finished our package to be sent to Magpie store, where we'll be consigning some items..

Magpie in Massachusetts please check them out they rock!

Well I am off I've just listed a few new items in my shop.- hope you are all having fun making wonderful things xo

Tuesday Mid- Afternoon

So the weather has just been excruciating. Today I have all the fans on and our small kitchen air conditioner. The cats are sprawled around the apt. like zombies. I've been watching Six Feet Under. I started watching it years ago and have just started renting it from the library. I didn't realize the 5th season was the last.. I've just started the last season.. my tummy is full of butterflies from anticipation.

We have the Providence Open Market on Saturday. So we'll get to see Zach's family- which is always nice. I've been thrifting for a lot of fun pieces to applique, transform and reconstruct. I've also started making a hip version of a fanny pack.. called the Franny pack. I've been using mine for a few weeks now and love it as well as recieved a bunch of compliments. So look for those in our shop.. Coming Soon!

I hope everyone enjoys the weather and this week. I'll be on hiatus for a little bit.. preparing for our upcoming show, an a few consignments we have in the works.

I'll leave you with some eye candy!

Tuesday Night in the Wee Hours

I just finished watching Half Nelson.. really sad and moving. Zach and Hermione were passed out on the bed, while Jasper took up his favorite spot in the bathroom in front of the shower. He's so adorable.. his big white whiskers and his eyes, I swear he knows what I am saying to him ( although Zach says I'm crazy)

We put the grill together, which was an anniversary gift from the Oatscanos. I'm marinating some portabella mushroom halves in olive oil, dried basil from the garden and balsamic vinegar. I bought some sweet corn to cook on the grill in the husks. The market was such a mess near the corn, all the shoppers stripping the corn of its husks. I probably should- but I never look- I always just choose pieces that look good. Now I have Elizabeth the Virgin Queen on- from Masterpiece Theater... which always makes me think of Mouseterpiece Theater.. I think that is from my childhood- perhaps I made it up?

Zach and I had been wanting to vend at the brooklyn Indie Market and it looks like this weekend we will get our chance. We just have to clarify the details. So that will be there shows in 3 weeks. Providence Open Market on Saturday, June 30th- was much slower than the first show we had there on opening day. However it was also a holiday weekend- which may pull people away from things they may normally do for fun and rather go visit family. We were nestled right next to Alissa from MewPaperArts, Marie from Galvinized Headware and of course the kettle corn vendor. Thankfully we got away with our products NOT smelling like popcorn and butter.
