Grab Yer Aprons

It is that time again- Spring Cleaning. I kind of feel like I'm always cleaning so the actual idea of "spring cleaning" is kind of new to me. With the first bat of warm weather, I beg Zach to drag out our bins of summery clothes and I begin washing them/seeing which still fit and which I just don't want out this year. However, this year I have some new ideas about how I want to manage our little space- because we're moving as you may have caught and things need to be in tip top shape!

One of the things I tackled this morning was my Etsy shop. I reorganized all the items, the categories and just added sale items to their regular category- rather than have a specific section for such things. I switched to a banner that I haven't used in awhile, updated all of our mailing info, our shop welcome and other little shopownery things. I also got rid of some fabric and craft books which were on sale- but weren't moving. To me it looks lighter, more coherent and refreshed and I didn't even need to put my apron on for this one!

I'm now enjoying by warm-tub incriments, SARKS's Bodacious Book of Succulence. I had read it in college- but wanted to relive her positive vibes and gorgeous spirit. The part I've come to which has always been so inspiring is her "Micromovements". The idea that you really can accomplish anything if you do it in a baby step. Think "What About Bob" with Bill Murray...baby steps to the door, etc. Only you want to really accomplish something here- aside from comedic laughter.
( Bikiniville Coffee Cuff- I love this ribbon it is just adorable, with the itsy bikinis and the style is bananas - oh How I can't wait for Rachel Zoe to return)

On My Micromovement
Master List I am planning to conquer the following things:
-My studio nook- arranging fabric in an inspiring- grabbing way- to heck with color coding- I need inspiration!
-The hella that is Hazel's massive clothing attack- hand-me-down central (which I do love) is just kinda out of control and needs to be tamed!
-Clearing a path- whether it is to the bed- the changing table-the couch- yup- all of these spots have excessive cluttered piles that need cleaning

So to get a little bit of help and support- I'll be following the other house mamas & papas and getting with the celebration. Let's Party with Simplemom from May 4th- 25th and get our clean on!

Source of My Inspiration

I haven't made anything yet- but my head is buzzing and as soon as I can I'll sketch it out.

I had just started college, I remember being at a new friend's house and there I found one of the most ground-breaking books I would ever read. by SARK The cover alone, is friendly and bright and just designed like no other book I had ever encountered. It then turned out one of my roomates had heard of SARK and was a huge fan (thanks Amber). I remember we even married ourselves one day by the pond on campus. I devoured every book available and when she came to our little college town's independent (now defuncted) book store Ariel, we got to meet her and have our picture taken with SARK herself, it was pretty amazing. So yesterday when I listened to an old CraftCast interview with SARK I was so psyched! It brought back a renewed creative spirit in me. Inspiring me in a deep way I have been yearning for. I promptly took a hot bath and dialed SARK's Inspiration Line. Just when I had practiced what message I would leave, I got a message that her box was full! Oh well, I'll call again another time. Either way the message she left was amazing and really made me feel like she was talking to me one-on-one. I know I sound a little silly. Sometimes a little silly goes a long way. Have a great, inspired day.

Live See Make or Sleep Nurse and Forget to Eat

Hazel will be 4 months next week- how time has just flown by. I think this is the longest I've gone without blogging- something. We just came back from a new Whole Foods almost near us with some new friends. A good time was had by all- except now I have a sore throat. With Hazel sleeping lightly on my lap- I wish at this point I would have trained our cats better. As always we are taking on much more than we envisioned and have started moving in with my parents-while still housing things at the old place. I packed up my most summery fabric and my machine and have it all in a pile staring back at me. This weekend- this weekend- this weekend. That is my new mantra. It'll all get done-this weekend.

Although H sleeps through the night now, I am not getting to bed till midnight and rising at 6 to take Z to the train. Once his ticket is up at the end of March- we'll begin a closer & perhaps easier commute ( as I've done both of his and prefer the ferry-train method).

I've started making some clutches and they are patiently awaiting their buttons for closure- however I dropped our digital camera and may have broken it. So I will add that to my list!

I hope the springy weather inspires wonderful things in you.. I need to get into the right frame of mind-which I hope will be coming soon! I'm washing my fabrics and that always inspires me- along with reading SARK and Sabrina Ward Harrison.
be well-
